Josiah Spears organised the very first Scripture Union mission in 1868 on Llandudno beach. He wrote ‘God is Love’ in the sand and then invited children to decorate it and listen to a Bible story. I wonder if he would have thought then that Scripture Union Missions would still be thriving nearly 140 years on? Well they are!
During those 140 years the mission programme has changed of course, but the desire to use the Bible to inspire children, young people and adults to know God is still the same and still central to everything we do.
The exciting thing about Scripture Union missions is that while they’re all based on Scripture Union’s aims, no two are completely the same!
